When something goes wrong

The things that go wrong on an auction night, and what to do about each one.

Draft. These pages describe the auction night as it is being built. Some screens are not released yet, and the pictures use sample data.

At the door

What happened What to do
A guest is not on the list Sell them a ticket at the door. They get a paddle on the spot.
A guest has no card on file Check them in anyway. They can bid, and are asked for a card if they win. You can also add a card for them at check-in.
You checked in the wrong party Press Undo on the screen that shows their paddle numbers.
A volunteer cannot see a tool The organizer ticks tools for each person in Add a volunteer. Check the start and end time of their access too.

During bidding

What happened What to do
A guest cannot get into the auction on their phone They can sign back in with the email their ticket is under.
A guest would rather not use their phone A floor volunteer can bid for them.
A guest asks what they are winning or what they owe Look them up by name or paddle.
A section needs more time On Tonight, press Add 5 minutes on that section’s row.

During the live program

What happened What to do
The paddle you typed is not recognized Fix the number or tap a close match. More
You entered the wrong paddle in the paddle raise Press Undo on its row.
The Wi-Fi drops The screen stops taking bids and shows the last confirmed one. Tell the auctioneer. More
The auctioneer moves on without a sale Press Pass. The high bidder is not charged.

Paying and collecting

What happened What to do
A guest’s card was declined They can change their card on their bill, or pay at the pick-up desk. Take payment
A guest wants to pay by check Record it at the pick-up desk, or mark it paid in Settle up with the check’s number.
A guest is worried about being charged tonight Closing the auction charges no one. Cards are charged once, at the time on their bill.
A guest wants to collect later They choose Later on their bill. Their items stay on the shelf.
